EastEnders spoilers: Is Ben Mitchell DEAD? Aidan Maguire bombshell sparks horror

The contents of Aidan’s (played by Patrick Bergin) mystery box were finally revealed in last night’s instalment of BBC‘s EastEnders after Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) came across them.

The Irishman had recruited Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) to get rid of the box by putting them into a coffin, but he was caught by Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick).

It finally made it’s way into Phil’s hands last night after Jay told Sharon (Letitia Dean) what Aidan had been up to.

While Sharon frantically tried to find the box in Phil’s safe, it turns out her husband had it all along as he sat contemplating in the Arches for some time before finally opening the box.

Phil threw the contents of the jewellery box onto a table, where several teeth came tumbling out.

However, it wasn’t clear who the pearly whites could belong to.

Those watching at home thought the teeth could belong to Ben (Harry Reid) and took to Twitter to speculate.

One viewer questioned: “Are those Ben’s teeth?!?! That’s all I can think of #EastEnders.”

“#EastEnders just watched it… the teeth grossed me out. Phil was cagey about Ben when he came back… so I reckon it’s his…” another wrote.

A third added: “Are the teeth Ben’s????”

Ben was last seen fleeing England to head to France as he made off with the heist money.

Although unbeknownst to him, the cash had been swapped for a stack of Walford Gazette newspapers, and he only discovered the switch when he got to customs.

He managed to make off with some notes he had put into his jacket, and his treachery undoubtedly put him on Aidan’s hit list.

While Phil did follow his son across the Channel, he returned to Walford claiming he hadn’t found him.

It may be that Aidan succeeded in tracking him down, and Ben has paid the ultimate price for his actions.

EastEnders continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on BBC One.
