Martin Fowler (played by James Bye) recently filed for divorce from his estranged EastEnders wife Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner).
Hayley (Katie Jarvis) secretly filmed the pair having a blazing row last week – but why was she filming, and who for?
The suspicious new BBC character is set to cause further trouble for Martin after she tries to worm her way into his life.
Hayley has already tried to flirt with the fruit and veg vendor while he worked on his market stall.
Later left alone together, she was surprisingly seen to plant a tender kiss on his cheek before a stunned Stacey walked in on them and revealed her surprise that Martin had moved on so quickly.
Hayley will return to Albert Square and immediately turn her attention to Martin and start to flirt with him again.
Martin is taken back by the attention but are Hayley’s intentions all as they seem?
This episode, due to air on Thursday, will see Hayley continue to string Martin along and report back to an unknown cohort.
Her scheming ways has led some viewers to believe that she is working on behalf of the Slater family.
The speculation comes after it was confirmed that Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace), Big Mo Harris (Laila Morse), and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) would return to Walford later this year.
The popular theory amongst fans is that Hayley is working for the Slater’s to help destroy Martin’s reputation, which could in turn benefit Stacey in the divorce proceedings.
One fan posted on Twitter: “This Hayley person is probably the Slater cousin who was to arrive with Kat, Mo, and Jean. Kat is on Stacey’s side and therefore Martin is being made to look like the bad guy.”
“Hayley is definitely a Slater. The attitude, the looks, the connection to Stacey. John Yorke [EastEnders producer] confirmed a new Slater was joining with Kat, Mo and Jean,” wrote another.
Others thought Hayley was working for Max Branning (Jake Wood), with one adding: “Random theory time: Hayley is an undercover operative hired by Max after being told by Stacey about their marital problems.”
Martin and Stacey’s marriage woes seem to have stemmed from a disagreement about childcare.
