EastEnders spoilers: Dot Branning dealt devastating blow on Albert Square return

The pensioner will be left reeling when she returns to discover her beloved laundrette has been reopened, and she’s not in charge.

Dot (played by June Brown) was forced to leave her job in 2016 after the business was closed down, however the Walford landmark has been mobilised again by Mr Papadopoulos Jnr. (Tarrick Benham).

In last night’s instalment of the BBC soap, Karen Taylor (played by Lorraine George) was seen bagging herself a job interview at the establishment.

In scenes set to air next week, her intrigue gets the better of her and she investigates her old job when she notices it is up and running.

The soap veteran will be feeling incredibly put-out that nuisance neighbour Karen is the one who has taken her place.

The news hits Dot hard as she’s already struggling to deal with Abi’s (Lorna Fitzgerald) diagnosis.

Abi is lying in hospital brain dead after her fall from the Queen Vic roof on Christmas Day.

To add insult to serious injury, Karen’s poor customer service skills don’t sit well with Dot.

Ultimately, the Laundrette queen won’t be able to help herself when she sees it’s all getting a bit too much for the mother-of-six.

EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
