Stacey (played by Lacey Turner) dropped the massive bombshell on Martin’s (James Bye) sister Michelle (Jenna Russell) whilst they were gardening together.
She told Michelle: “Look, I haven’t said anything to Martin yet, and sister-in-law or not, if you tell him before I get a chance that’ll be the end of you.
“I’m, er, I’m pregnant. I haven’t told anyone yet, it’s early days. I haven’t even told my mum! Only you,” the Albert Square resident announced.
Michelle was bursting with joy for Stacey, hugging her and saying: “Congratulations!”
However, Stacey hasn’t been able to tell Martin after being interrupted by Bex (Jasmine Armfield) when she came in crying after a horrific bullying incident.
Viewers appeared to have mixed reaction to Stacey’s news, with one posting on Twitter with smiling emojis: “Aw Stacey’s pregnant #EastEnders.”
Another agreed, added: “#EastEnders @LaceyTurner Stacey’s pregnant yaaasss.”
However, one thought about the impact of Stacey’s pregnancy on Bex, saying: “Stacey being pregnant is gonna make Bex feel more isolated #EastEnders.”
Bex is currently at the centre of a harrowing bullying storyline and viewers have commented previously that she has not got the support needed from Martin and Stacey.
Her mother Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) is expected to return next week and will go on the warpath against her daughter’s bullies.
