
The 29-year-old actress stars as Bill Potts in the upcoming series of the BBC hit show alongside Time Lord Peter Capaldi.
But despite her scenes not even hitting TV screens yet, it is thought she will be replaced in a line-up revamp.
It is believed bosses want a “fresh start” following Peter’s decision to quit as The Doctor earlier this year and due to the sci-fi programme welcoming new show-runner Chris Chibnall who will take over from current writer Steven Moffatt in 2018.
“Bosses have decided to have a completely fresh start,” a source told The Sun.
Meanwhile, bookmakers have a new favourite to replace Peter, 58, as the next Doctor.
Writer and star of BBC Three’s award-winning Fleabag, Phoebe Walle Bridge, has had her odds slashed after a flurry of people backed her to fill the coveted role.
Doctor Who returns to BBC One on April 15.
