Doctor Foster season 2: Bertie Carvel teases major death as chat leaves fans 'devastated'

The actor appeared on This Morning today where he remained frustratingly tight-lipped about the series finale while speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield

However, when asked about Doctor Foster’s third cycle, he sighed: “This could be my final appearance on national television.”

Ahead of his interview, Bertie warned: “There are ninjas waiting in the wings to kill me if I say anything.”

In turn, Holly and Phillip and were visibly annoyed as the star refused to answer almost all of their questions.

But the This Morning duo weren’t the only ones left reeling by the chat as viewers drowned Twitter with angry posts.

“Wow. Bertie Carvel playing the role of someone that really didn’t want to be there on #ThisMorning. #DoctorFoster #awkward,” hissed one audience member, as another agreed: “Proper devo’d at that interview. #ThisMorning #bertie.”

A third sympathised: “#thismorning But it must be hard for Bertie to be interviewed without giving us a spoiler. So it’s making him seem boring,” which was followed by: “This #DoctorFoster Bertie Carval interview is pointless when you cant reveal anything about the show #ThisMorning.”

Although, one fan complained: “This interview is not serving Bertie well. I’m cringing. #ThisMorning.”

Last week’s Doctor Foster concluded with Gemma appearing to plough her car into the back of her cheating ex-husband, and tonight, fans will be waiting with tenterhooks as they wait to hear what Simon told Tom to turn him against his mother.

Doctor Foster concludes tonight at 9pm on BBC One while This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30pm on ITV.
