The movie is based on the 2013 best-selling book by Kevin Kwan. Early review scores on Rotten Tomatoes give it a perfect 100% fresh rating, which is unusual for a romantic comedy that, superficially, seems to focus on extreme wealth and shallow people.
But critics are declaring the movie revives the tired romcom genre. With the glittering settings and beautiful people combined with diversity and a bite in the tail, this film is being declared romcom “pornography.”
US audiences are in for a major treat, but UK fans will have to wait months.
