Coronation Street spoilers: Seb Franklin to discover he has HIV in hard-hitting storyline?

The ITV soap doesn’t shy away from hard-hitting storylines and will apparently deal with another in the coming months.

Seb (played by Harry Visinoni) was brought onto the Cobbles last year as Faye Windass’ (Ellie Leach) boyfriend.

Now, the troubled teen is set for a dramatic storyline as he will discover he has HIV in scenes that will air next month.

His diagnosis will receive a mixed reception by residents of Coronation Street, who struggle to understand the disease.

A source close to the show revealed: “Coronation Street have never been afraid of tackling taboo subjects and this is no different.

“Seb’s storyline isn’t going to see him go on a huge ‘journey’ and be drawn over months and years but the initial scenes are sure to be shocking.

“The episodes, which will air next month, will show realistic attitudes both positive and negative to HIV.

“Producers aren’t going to sugarcoat it, but they also want to show that life doesn’t end with a diagnosis,” the insider told The Sun.

What’s more, it has been suggested that the soap is working closely with HIV charity, the Terrence Higgins Trust, to help with the accuracy of portraying such a sensitive storyline.

Coronation Street continues tomorrow on ITV at 7.30pm
