The chilling new teaser for Coronation Street hints at the downfall of the villainous builder as he heads off on a romantic break with Eileen (played by Sue Cleaver).
As they approach a large cottage, the ITV murderer comments: “This is my dream holiday, secluded and romantic.”
Eileen looks excited as she takes in the stunning home near to the coast.
However, back in Weatherfield her close friends and family have uncovered Pat’s (Connor McIntyre) killer secret and can be seen speaking to the police.
They are heard asking an unknown witness about a gun as Gary Windass (Mikey North) is told: “We found something else.”
The spine-tingling trailer then cuts back to Eileen who is on the phone to Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine).
He can be heard warning: “If you’re with him Eileen you’ve got to stay calm and you’ve got to get out there as fast as you can.”
But it seems his warning may have come too late for the mother-of-two as Pat creeps up behind her.
“Make or break you said,” he tells her.
As Pat continues to make his way towards her, Eileen can be seen with tears running down her face as she asks: “What have you done?”
Could Pat kill Eileen as she finally realises the full extent of his crimes?
It comes after Coronation Street boss Kate Oates spilled details of the villain’s demise, which is set to air next week.
“The Phelan story: I’m very excited about his getting his comeuppance, so that will be good,” she teased.
Kate previously revealed that Eileen will be very much involved in exposing Pat’s downfall.
“Connor [McIntyre] is so up for this challenge,” she told Radio Times. “He’s so excited about it and he’s playing it brilliantly.
“What I like about Phelan’s downfall is that it’s very much to do with Eileen. It’s to do with her realising who she’s married.
“It’s to do with Nicola [Rubinstein] and that child. You’ve got the high drama balanced out with the emotional family domestic drama, which is when I think Corrie is at its best.”
Kate added: “There’ll be a few twists and turns – we have some stunts coming up, which will be exciting.”
Coronation Street airs tonight on ITV at 7.30pm.
