Earlier this year, Carla (played by Alison King) stunned Coronation Street fans when she enjoyed a brief fling with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
But now it’s been revealed that the cobbles cougar will be locking lips with her own flesh and blood.
Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) will be rocked by the arrival of her biological son, Ali Neeson, who was revealed to have been swapped at birth 10 years ago and hasn’t been seen in Weatherfield since.
In turn, Ali will turn his back on Michelle, leaving her heartbroken when he refuses to attend her wedding to Robert Preston (Tristian Gemmill).
After Michelle and Robert’s efforts fall flat, Carla decided to take drastic action.
Carla swoops in to invite Ali to stay with her at Roy Cropper’s flat (David Neilson); but she soon gets more than she bargained for.
After a glass or five of wine, Ali goes in for a kiss and confesses that he’s always been attracted to Carla.
“Carla’s very keen to keep it under wraps,” stressed Corrie boss Kate Oates. “She knows that tongues will be wagging if word gets out, and one person in particular will not be pleased at all.”
The latest twist comes amid a huge few weeks for Coronation Street following Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) finally being rumbled by Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver).
And this Friday David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) sexual assault will take place, with the traumatised fan favourite facing an unbearable journey ahead.
“When I was told about the storyline Kate Oates and I met with Duncan from Survivors Manchester and that was when I realised the gravity and significance of the storyline,” Jack explained.
“David’s reaction and decision to remain quiet because he feels ashamed about what has happened is not uncommon.”
He continued: “Hopefully people will start talking about the storyline and it could help someone who has gone through something similar to realise the need to open up and speak to somebody.”
Kate added: “We decided to cover the topic of male rape to help try and highlight the culture of silence that surrounds male sexual assault, and issues surrounding male mental health in general.
“Survivors Manchester have been so generous with their time and knowledge, working with Jack, Ryan and the team, and I’m in awe of the work they do.”
