Coronation Street spoilers: Billy Mayhew near death but fans are DISTRACTED by huge gaffe

After leaving court, Billy (played by Daniel Brocklebank) was assaulted by an unknown assailant who punched the vicar and pushed a four-leaf clover that his adopted daughter Summer (Matilda Freeman) had made into his leg.

However, Billy didn’t realise he was bleeding until Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) pointed it out and pulled the item from Billy’s leg.

It was clear the blade had done serious damage as the vicar’s health then began to rapidly decline while the two waited for an ambulance, however viewers’ minds were on something else entirely.

“Why is he not f*****g driving him to the hospital!? #Corrie,” one fan fumed.

While another raged: “Anyone else watching #corrie wondering why Peter didn’t just drive to the hospital instead of letting Billy bleed to death… if he dies that is…but still WTF?! #CoronationStreet.”

Watchers of the ITV soap were bemused that Peter would not drive the car to hospital, as it would have been much quicker than waiting for an ambulance.

While Billy was deteriorating in the passenger seat, he suddenly confessed that he was responsible for the death of Peter’s twin, Susan Barlow (Katie Heannau), back in 2001.

Peter had little time to react to the admission as Billy had to be whisked away to hospital.

Billy was seen lying on an operating table in the final moments of the show as his life hung in the balance.

Will he be able to pull through?

Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
