Coronation Street spoiler: Shona's shock EXIT revealed after THAT 'kiss' with David?

Shona (played by Julia Goulding) is yet to come clean about being the mother of Kylie’s (Paula Lane) killer Clayton (Callum Harrison), but she did confess all to Gail, who is now adamant that she doesn’t want her being around David.

Gail even went as far as to take “money she can’t afford” out and offer it to Shona so that she would leave the street.

Gail told Shona that Clayton – who was rumoured to be on death’s door after having a “fight” in prison – was ok and had actually been to hospital after taking a tumble, with him questioning why she wasn’t by his bedside.

Gail said: “What have you told David about Clayton?” to which Shona replied: “Nothing and I won’t.”

Keen for answers, Gail went on: “Why were you even at my house? Most mothers would have been at their son’s hospital bedside.”

Shona explained: “Well, I tried. Me and his dad, the usual outcome when we’re in a building together is us getting chucked out by security. I couldn’t risk Clayton being on his own, so I had to be the one that left.”

Gail then went on to say: “I’m impressed that you walked away. That you sometimes realise that that’s for the best,” to which Shona asked: “Meaning?”

Gail eventually reached into her pocket and brought out a wad of cash, saying: “I’ve got £400, it’s money I can’t afford to lose, but, like you, I’m willing to make sacrifices for my son.

“It’ll buy you a ticket somewhere and tide you over until you’ve got a job.”

Gail’s offer came after David – who had spent the afternoon drinking in the Rovers Return after hearing that Clayton could die – attempted to kiss Shona, only for her to pull away just before Gail walked in the door.

Viewers immediately took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the whole thing, with one person posting: “Gail is right – Shona has no business being there considering who she is! Let alone befriending David! Get rid of her #coronationstreet.”

“#coronationstreet Shona can buy some new jeans with that cash!” a second joked.

Coronation Street continue on Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
