Former FBI director James Comey told three top FBI officials about conversations he had with President Donald Trump before he was fired last May. All three officials have since been forced out of the bureau, or reassigned within it.
Trump’s decision to fire Comey, and his conversations with the FBI director before his removal, now make up the basis of the special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into whether the president sought to obstruct justice when he dismissed Comey last May. At the time, Comey was overseeing the FBI’s Russia investigation, which Trump has characterized as a “hoax” and a “witch hunt.” See the rest of the story at Business Insider
