
“Because I think it’s a bit of a leap then for the audience, and it’s a bit of a challenge for me.”
He added: “As a comedian people expect you to say something funny, so it’s nice to have something that goes against that.”
Fearless – which he called “so tightly written” – was a hit for ITV, and saw him playing the boyfriend of lead character Emma Banville (Helen McCrory).
Bishop has a long line of comedy dates set for this month, with work-in-progress shows at the Edinburgh Fringe from August 12-25.
He’s then in Bristol, Leicester, Stoke, Oxford, Aylsesbury and Northampton before the Winging It Tour starts proper in Cork on September 19 and runs through to December.
