Is Jon Seda leaving Chicago PD?

Sadly, Jon Seda is leaving NBC drama series Chicago PD.

Jon Seda has played the role of Antonio Dawson on the show for the past seven years and was one of the original cast members.

Also leaving the Chicago franchise is Colin Donnell of Chicago Fire and Chicago Med and Norma Kuhling of Chicago Med.

However, it is highly possible they may all return for guest appearances in the future as has previously happened on long-running medical shows.

Why is Antonio Dawson leaving Chicago P.D?

Jon Seda, who plays Antonio Dawson announced he was leaving Chicago PD earlier this month (Friday, April 19).

The character of Antonio first appeared on-screen in Chicago Fire before he, alongside Jason Beghe, were cast as main characters on the spin-off series Chicago PD.

Antonio then left Chicago PD to join legal drama Chicago Justice in season four but later turned up at the beginning of season five after Chicago Justice was cancelled after one season.

Seda has not yet confirmed why he is leaving the beloved character Antonio Dawson behind.

Seda did take to Twitter to release a statement and confirm the news.

He said: “It’s been an honor portraying Det. Antonio Dawson in the #OneChicago world. To my cast #Family, I’ll always treasure the time and stories we shared. To all you #chihards out there, THANK YOU for being the best of fans! We’ll Always have CHICAGO .”

However, according to Deadline, sources have reported that his departure was due to creative reasons relating to his character.

Who else left the Chicago Franchise?

Three stars overall across the franchise’s three shows announced they were leaving this month.

Colin Donnell, who played Dr Connor Rhodes in Chicago PD and later Chicago Fire announced he was leaving.

Again, Donnell did not officially give a reason why but he confirmed the news on Twitter.

He wrote: “Sorry to say that this is true. I love my #ChicagoMed #OneChicago family dearly.

“And a special thank you to all the fans that have made these last four seasons so amazing.”

Norma Khuling, who played Dr Ava Bekker from season two until now, also confirmed she was leaving.

Khuling confirmed the news on Instagram, writing alongside a photo collage: “Thank you Chicago Med for two amazing years! Really going to miss this family, but feeling nothing but gratitude.

“A huge thank you to @nbc and @dickwolf for bringing me on board, to the best cast and crew imaginable, and finally to the fans for making these shows what they are.

“Can’t wait to cheer #OneChicago on in its future seasons with you!”

Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med air Wednesdays from 8-11pm on NBC
