Celebrity teeth transformations exposed as Brits spend £1bn a year on private dentists

A report this week from consumer spending expert Kantar Worldpanel reveals that toothpaste and toothbrush makers are now Britain’s fastest growing health and beauty companies.

Meanwhile, private dentists make in excess of £1billion a year from cosmetic treatments such as smile analysis, invisible braces and sonic polishing.

And sales of teeth whitening products have increased by more than 10 per cent since 2013, an increase of almost £8million.

Our growing obsession with our pearly whites is also evident in the way more and more people are trading up from old-style manual toothbrushes to electric versions.

One in three Britons now has a motorpowered gnasher-scrubber.

No one is more obsessed with achieving a winning smile than an image-conscious A-lister but, as our pictures show, many of the most orthodontically flawless celebrities once had a set of what the Cockneys call Hampstead Heath that looked like an abandoned graveyard.
