Host Emma Willis wasted no time in asking the Girls Aloud star about Chad Johnson and the boyfriend she’d had on the outside.
The 35-year-old, who had been dating Aaron Lacey for a matter of weeks before the Channel 5 series, admitted what she’d had before “couldn’t compare” to her relationship with The Bachelor star.
Sarah commented: “I was in a short team relationship, a matter of weeks [but] I was dating somebody.”
The singer went on: “After Paul and I had our spat, Chad came upstairs and we found some common ground, started hanging around together and he became my best friend in the house. He has been my rock.”
Sarah revealed that she’d had to make a “difficult decision” and she was hoping to have a future with the reality star.
She went on: “We’ve been through the mill together, it’s like we’ve know each other for months and months. We are going to see what happens.
“After everything we went through, it couldn’t compare to what I’d previously had, which was very short.”
During her victory chat with Emma, Sarah clarified her reasons for signing up for the programme, after pipping Amelia Lily to be crowned the winner.
“It was really difficult to adjust to the new environment,” she added. “The main reason was to show everyone that I was just Sarah. I’ve been through ups and downs. I’m so grateful, it’s made me stronger and tougher.
“Once I got more adjusted, I was definitely feeling more settled. It’s made me a stronger person, I’ve grown a thicker skin, I am an anxious character that’s just me.”
