Cat Grant Returns to Supergirl: What to Expect From Her 'Emotional' Episodes

“Good evening, National City,” booms a familiar — and sorely missed — voice in the promo for Supergirl‘s May 15 episode (The CW, 8/7c). “I’ve been away for a while, but I’m back.”

Calista Flockhart‘s Cat Grant returns for the final two episodes of the series’ second season, during which “Kara has to make some brutally emotional decisions,” executive Andrew Kreisberg tells TVLine. And who better to give the Girl of Steel the pep talk she needs than her former boss?

“Cat and Clark, while they have their own storylines and their own reasons for being [in National City], they’re there to emotionally support our hero,” Kreisberg continues. “What’s great about these episodes is that Cat actually gets to do some things she’s never done before. But she also gets to perform the role that she always has, being a mentor and a role model — not just for Supergirl, but also for Kara.”

As he notes, “Supergirl and Kara have different storylines. In the finale, both aspects of her character are going on separate journeys. Cat and Superman are there to help both of them.”
