She had explained how it was set to be their last project together as she required surgery to correct her scoliosis and she wouldn’t be able to dance afterwards.
Although the group didn’t win the contest, Simon Cowell was so moved by the youngster’s plight, he paid £175,000 of his own money for Julia to have an advanced operation which wouldn’t leave her unable to dance.
Julia is returning to screens as the show is coming back for a all-stars series entitled Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions.
Filming was underway at Wembley Arena over the weekend and when Julia appeared on Saturday, Simon was reduced to tears according to The Sun.
Julia is said to have backflipped across the stage as MerseyGirls performed once again.
Following the exciting comeback Amanda Holden prompted Simon to give his response, only managing a few words before handing the mic over to his fellow judges as he teared up.
Simon then walked away from the desk to compose himself before addressing the girls.
“All I want to talk about is one person’s strength and, beyond that, the friendship and support you all have, which we saw the first time we met you,” Simon declared.
He added: “To see you able to come back tonight…it just means everything…”
Meanwhile, Alesha Dixon said: “That just made my heart soar. Simon, I love you, I love what you’ve done for her.”
An air date for Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions has not yet been announced.
However hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly revealed during the Britain’s Got Talent final a few months ago that it would be airing “later in the year”.
BGT legend Susan Boyle was scheduled to appear in the programme but it has been reported that she will no longer be able to take part.
It comes as America’s Got Talent aired a Champions season earlier this year which she was a part of.
It has been suggested that the singer’s busy schedule may mean she won’t be able to appear.
A spokesperson for Susan told The Sun: “Susan has a busy year ahead with lots of performances coming up, trips to the US, headlining BBC Proms in September, as well as preparing for her upcoming tour.
“She is enjoying celebrating the decade since she first appeared on BGT and her life changing for the better.
“She loved being part of AGT Champions and, whether she is able to make it or not, wishes the contestants taking part on BGT Champions the best of luck.”
Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions is expected to air later this year on ITV.
