Brigitte Macron greets UNICEF guests at Elysee palace wearing oversized navy jumper

As the French First lady, Brigitte Macron, 64, is regularly on hand to assist her husband, French president Emmanuel Macron, 39, in his public office.

Brigitte – a former school teacher – has a particular skill with young people, as demonstrated today when she welcomed guests, including a group of children, arriving at the Elysee palace in Paris.

The children were accompanied by the United Nations’ (UN) agency United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), who were arriving for a meeting with Emmanuel.

The meeting took place as part of the UN’s Universal Children’s Day, which this year took place on Monday November 20.

To greet her mixed group of guests, Brigitte stepped out in a navy oversized jumper embellished with a black matchstick design on the front in the centre.

She wore it over a straight cut navy skirt, with a hemline that finished a couple of inches above her knee.

On her feet she wore black suede boots with a pointed toe and a sturdy heel which looked to be around three inches.

For added warmth, she wore a white polo neck under her jumper, and thick navy tights under her navy skirt.

Her blonde bob, which Brigitte sometimes sweeps up in a sleek chignon, was today left stylishly messy with loose curls at the bottom.

Her roots were left slightly grown out, betraying a hint of dark hair below her platinum and honey hair colour.

She wore her characteristic smokey eye makeup, with a hint of bronzer on her cheekbones and a natural looking lip.

She accessorised with simply her wedding ring, and left her perfectly shaped oval nails bare.

Last week, Brigitte wrapped up warm as she attended a memorial to mark two years since the Paris attacks.

She stood side by side with the victims’ families during one of several ceremonies taking place in the city.

She wore a black military-inspired coat with black skinny jeans and black leather ankle boots, paired with an electric blue scarf.

Visibly moved by the ceremony, Brigitte held back tears as she clasped hands with Emmanuel.
