The best countries to travel to next year have been revealed by Lonely Planet in their annual Lonely Planet’s Best In Travel book.
Choosing a holiday destination can be difficult with more flight routes and tourist spots opening than ever before.
Featuring some of the up and coming places as well as popular spots that travellers continue to love, holidaymakers should mark them in their diaries for a trip abroad next year.
Taking the top spot was Chile, as the South American destination become one of the hottest destinations.
Direct flights to Santiago, the countries capital, launched earlier this year from London with British Airways, making it easier to explore the country.
With National Parks, guaranteed good weather and home to the worlds largest swimming pool (coming in at the same length as 20 Olympic swimming pools), it offers everything for a family holiday.
Somewhat surprisingly, South Korea came in second as the best country to visit next year.
The destination is increasing in popularity, with 100,000 Britons heading there every year and despite rising tensions in North Korea, remains still safe with the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) being a large tourist attraction.
Popular holiday destination Portugal remained high, coming in at number three as the best country for 2018.
Britons searching for the destination has gone up by a whopping 508 per cent for next year, according to research by Skyscanner.
Lisbon and Porto offer great weather with a similar climate to Spain and, being just two hours from London, is famous for its vineyards and stag do location.
The Algarve was even named Europe’s best beach destination earlier this year by the World Travel Awards 2017.
Other well-known locations to make the top ten included New Zealand, Malta, China, South Africa, and Mauritius.
Some lesser known countries to appear to be on the hot list for 2018, were Djibouti and Georgia.
Djibouti is located in East Africa and celebrated its 40th anniversary of its independence from France earlier this year.
