Viewers were left waiting for the 55-year-old to deliver the morning forecast but BBC Breakfast was hit with a techincal glitch.
Those watching at home were shocked to hear presenters Louise Minchin and Dan Walker announce Carol’s segment would be postponed due to problem with the graphics.
One person wrote on Twitter: “Shock. Horror. Switched on to hear @louiseminchin saying @carolkirkwood is no longer with us #bbcbreakfast Relieved to hear it’s temporary!”
Another wrote: “@carolkirkwood good morning Missy we are all waiting patiently for you to grace our TV screens.”
A third said: “@carolkirkwood getting later with the first forecast Carol?”
When Carol was able to present the weather later in the programme, she told viewers it will be dry across the UK but there will be some rain in Northern Ireland this morning.
Through the course of the day, the rain will develop across the south west and north west of England, Wales and Scotland.
Further central and southern parts of England will remain dry and feel quite pleasant with highs up to 23 degrees celsius.
Tonight, the rain will push eastwards with some of the rain becoming very heavy and temperatures in towns and cities will range between 14 and 16 degrees celsius.
Tomorrow, there will still be some wet weather in the south east of England and further showers will develop across the UK.
