The weather woman was left red-faced after forgetting the name of one of her colleagues, with presenter Dan Walker then telling her to “go away”.
After informing BBC viewers to expect much cooler temperatures from tomorrow, the 55-year-old went to return to the studio but had a mind blank when it came to her co-star.
“If you like it hot, today’s the last day that we’re likely to see that in a wee while in the south anyway, Dan and… Louise,” Carol said, faltering as she tried to remember Louise Minchin.
“Some like it hot, Carol. Thank you,” Dan, 40, stated, before adding: “I’m just glossing over that.”
An amused Louise, 48, went on: “I was just commenting on how brilliant she is with words, how she never forgets anything, then she forgets my name!”
“There’s so much to remember,” Carol Kirkwood told them, before covering her hand with her face amid the humiliating incident.
But, Dan went on to reveal: “I’m going to quote what Louise and Steph said, ‘She’s so brilliant, Carol isn’t she?’ And, Louise went, ‘Do you know what, she never makes a mistake’. “
Apologising for her error, Carol added jokingly: “Sorry Louise, how can I forget your name? Dan is easily forgettable, but you?”
“There’s no need to dig yourself out of a hole by slinging mud. Go away,” Dan retorted, however it was all in jest.
Meanwhile, those at home seemed distracted by Carol’s latest ensemble, which saw her show off her curves in a figure-hugging floral dress.
Two Twitter users commented: “Beautiful Carol looking hot,” and: “Pretty dress this morning. Looking rather lovely!”
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
