The 54-year-old had to keep her hood on as she kept dry in a thick blue coat at the truck fest in the city.
She was on location to present the BBC Breakfast segment form Europe’s largest trucking festival which has been going on for around 35 years.
With 40,000 people expected to attend, Carol did have good news as she said the rain will ease from Peterborough through the course of the day as the rain goes further south.
She told viewers it will be the warmest in the north west today with plenty of sunshine and the highest temperatures getting up to 16 degrees celcius.
East of England will see a bit more cloud but it will be dry. Coming down south, there will be a little bit of rain around 9:00am and some brighter skies further south.
The South west have had a lot of rain overnight, especially in Devon, but that will tend to ease throughout the day.
Northern Ireland will have bright spells but the breeze from the north sea will make eastern Scotland a bit cooler.
Tomorrow, Carol said it will be a similar day with some of the cloud coming through.
But, it will break at times with brighter skies but some risk of showers still.
After today’s rain, the popular presenter said things will start settling down more as it gets warmer.
And Carol certainly delighted viewers as she got out and about this morning with one person commenting on social media: “Good morning ! You go girl ! Just love your jacket ! Such a gorgeous colour!”
“Well done @carolkirkwood great truck show enjoy,” a third said, whilst another wrote: “Cheerful and looking lovely despite today’s rain – you’re a tonic!”
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6:00am on BBC One.
