BBC News: Carol Kirkwood left red-faced after passerby flirts live on air

It’s no secret that BBC Weather’s meteorologist, Carol Kirkwood, 56, has her fans.

However, sometimes her fans do go slightly over-the-top when she’s in the vicinity.

Carol was delivering yet another perfect weather report on BBC Breakfast this morning, and everything was going swimmingly.

The Scottish weather lady was presenting her reports from an outdoor swimming pool in southwest London to celebrate the hot weather the UK has been experiencing recently.

Every single one of her reports had gone on without a single hitch until the very last one when a swimmer decided to use the opportunity to express his admiration of the BBC weather meteorologist.

Louise Minchin was the instigator of this embarrassing event.

Kirkwood had just finished her report, and everything would have been avoided if Louise hadn’t asked Carol to wave at one of the swimmers.

“Thank you very much indeed, and yeah, we’ll see you tomorrow. Thank you,” began Louise.

“Oh, someone gave you a little wave, look!” she added.

“Carol, behind you people are waving at you.”

This was the moment that started it all because Carol then turned around and waved at the swimmer who was trying to catch her eye.

“Hi, morning,” Carol said.

The swimmer then tired to keep the conversation flowing by asking her: “How are you?”

“Very well thank you. You’re looking good,” Carol replied.

Carol was, of course, referring to his swimming ability, yet the swimmer took it slightly differently.

The swimmer then asked Carol to join him in the pool.

Carol then turned back to the camera laughing sheepishly and said: “We’ll just end it there.”

“That’s an offer, Carol,” said Dan Walker.

Louise then joined in on the joke saying: “Well, I didn’t know that was going to happen.”

“On you go,” she continued, insinuating that Carol should join the man in the pool.

“What if Carol went in and just went full butterfly,” finished Dan.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
