BBC Breakfast: Naga Munchetty cuts off travel boss in heated exchange ‘Tell me the number’

Irene explained: “It’s 10s of thousands a day, not into one shop but into the whole estate.

But I think your point is you need to do more on the high street, you need to engage with the places you are, you need to be part of the community and we are really passionate about that.”

Ben interrupted: “And on that issue of the high street, there are about 30 towns or cities that are aware that because you’ve already got a store presence you’re going to end up with a Hays one and a former Thomas Cook one and you were committed to not cutting any jobs, so what do you do in that situation?”

John explained: “We are taking a commercial decision. If we’ve got two in the same town in many cases we are keeping them open and they are trading really well, in some places we have three and they are all doing really well.”

BBC Breakfast continues tomorrow morning on BBC One at 6am.
