The actress, who plays Summer Quinn in the reboot, said it was “part of the character” to look so impeccable.
“Part of the joke is that we’re supernaturally good-looking lifeguards that take our jobs way too seriously,” she told The Herald.
“It’s part of the character to look as good as possible so it was hard work, but it was all for the role.
“For me, it was about you want to do the best job possible.”
She added: “By the time I got to set I was like, ‘OK, I think I’m ready’.
“I was proud of the work I’d put in but it was a lot of swimming, and weight-training and dieting that I didn’t enjoy doing.”
Baywatch has failed to impress critics since its rollout worldwide, but audiences have been praising its humour.
Daddario said last week that one joke in particular persuaded her to sign up.
“Within the first 15 pages there is a scene where one of the male characters gets his erect penis stuck in a deck chair, and then Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kelly Rohrbach have to come and save him,” she told Seth Meyers.
“Obviously having Kelly there does not help the situation at all – so it continues to stay stuck.
“And The Rock is REALLY devoted to getting it out of the beach chair.”
She added: “That was the scene where I was like, ‘I’m in!’
