The remaining groups of professional pastry chefs were tasked by judges Cherish and Benoit Blin to make four different sets of mini desserts.
Liam’s team decided to be experimental, making an impressive-looking white chocolate chip cup with a gin gel, however, the bold move backfired when it came to the judges’ tasting.
Unable to hide the disgusted look on her face, Cherish, who is an award-winning pastry chef herself, began to gag as she chomped down on the gin-infused chocolate.
The outspoken culinary expert shocked presenter Angus Deayton by promptly running off camera to dispose of the petit four.
When she returned, she scolded: “You almost killed me with the acidity!”
Before adding: “It was so sharp that I didn’t know whether I was going to spit it out or swallow. It wasn’t that pleasant for me.”
Those watching at home found the whole saga hilarious, with one viewer summarising: “Oh dear. It may not augur that well, if Cherish rushes off to vomit and comes back to accuse them of trying to kill her. #GBBOCreme.”(sic)
Another quipped: “@cherish_finden needs a designer bucket me thinks #GBBOCreme.”
“Kind of wish Cherish had just spat it out onto their shoes and then slapped them #gbbocreme,” someone else joked.
While a fourth cheekily tweeted: “Woman got a surprise in her mouth which left her wondering whether to spit or swallow. Finally #GBBOCreme has some innuendo banter.”
