Avengers Infinity War news: Brie Larson speaks out on Captain Marvel ‘responsibility’

The Oscar-winner is expected to make her debut as Carol Danvers in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War, before getting her own vehicle in 2019.

Female protagonists are still vastly outnumbered my males in the Marvel universe, and Captain Marvel getting her own caper is a big step forward.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, the star said: “I feel a great responsibility.

“I want to create this symbol of strength and humour for women that I really wish I had had growing up. It feels so valuable.

“I feel like this is a big conversation and every day I have people yelling at me on Twitter, like: ‘You better have long hair, you better have the mohawk, you better wear the helmet, or you better not wear the helmet.’

“It’s like ‘Somebody’s going to be mad.’”

Captain Marvel currently has no director attached, although Nicole Perlman is in charge of the script.

Avengers: Infinity War, meanwhile, is out out in 2019.
