Avengers Infinity War CENSORED in Indonesia: ‘I’m SHOCKED’ says director – Here's why

The epic is expected to be a 12A in the UK and PG-13 in the US, but it turns out some of the movie has been cut for its release in Indonesia.

During an Avengers Infinity War press conference in Singapore, director Joe Russo discovered that seven minutes of the film had been removed by Indonesia’s Film Censorship Institute.

The reason being so the movie could meet its equivalent of a 12A or PG-13 rating.

Now Russo has responded to the move, appearing taken aback by the news.

Speaking at the press conference covered by CNA Lifestyle, the director said: “I can’t image what seven minutes they would want to cut out of the movie.

“It’s the first we’re hearing of it so we’re a little taken aback, but yes, of course as an artist you don’t want anybody censoring anything or taking anything out of the film.

“This is a PG-13 movie, it’s not like it’s some radical piece of content so I’m a little shocked.”

According to Hindustan Times, the director said: “There is nobody who can take over Iron Man from Robert. I don’t think the audience would accept that.

“He never mentioned to us about leaving Iron Man, but it will happen at some point of time.

“He can’t play the character forever. I am sure there are lots other things he wants to do in his career.

“But he loves playing the character, I know that, and we love working together. We will see where it goes from here.”

Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch has also teased his superhero could meet his end.

He said: ““You’ve seen him in Thor: Ragnarok and you know he’s in this one. Doesn’t mean there’s gonna be any more of him, so you’ll have to wait and see.”

Avengers Infinity War will be released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2018.
