Australian man checks in a single can of BEER for a 1700 mile flight

Travelling lightly can be a hard task when flying abroad.

Yet one man took it to the next level when travelling in Australia

Instead of checking in any luggage, he instead decided to check in a single can of beer when flying from Melbourne to Perth.

It appears some people will go to extreme lengths for a simple can of beer.

The man, who was flying with Qantas, attempted to try out the trick after colluding with a fellow worker at the airport.

The can of Emu Export lager ended up on the baggage claim amongst the other suitcases.

Luckily the airport staff appeared to have a sense of humour after the lonely can of beer made it through with its luggage tag.

It’s also a great way to escape the airport liquid restrictions.

The man, who identified himself simply as Dean, told Unilad the story: “My mate works at the airport and we hatched the plan as a laugh — I half didn’t expect it to come out the other end.

“But when it did, it was sent out well in front of the other luggage so the baggage handlers obviously appreciated it.

“Sure enough there she was, alone on the carousel, proudly making her way around.

“I half expected to find it empty, but if it didn’t turn up I’d have filed a lost luggage report.”
