At the birth of democracy, there were three homosexuals and their love affair

In 514 BC, Hipparchos and Hippias ruled in Athens. The most beautiful man in Athens, however, was Harmiodos, to whom Hipparchos had been contemplating. But as Harmiodos, a lover who was Aristogeiton, Hipparchos attempted to dismantle them. But the team has offended the city lovers who avenged him and decided to kill Hipparch. They also worried that if they did not act first, the ruler would take revenge on them.

One summer night, the whole of Athens was preparing for Panatnai’s feast, during which men could take their holidays. This opportunity was decided by Harmiodos and Aristogeiton. He managed to get close enough to Hipparch and attacked him. His bodyguard was focused on the person around him, and he did not notice that the danger could come from “celebrities.”

The Atena was successful, Hipparchos was killed, the Harmiodosa Sacrifice immediately after the attack killed. But Aristogeiton managed to capture them alive. They tortured him for several days because they wanted to get the names of other conspirators from him. The Harmiodosa-Green version of the Hipparch and the emotion of the offenders died, but Aristogeiton did not say anything to them. He could not.

The ruler of Athens, Hippias, the death of the brother deeply hit. He responded to reprisals that only confirmed that Hipparch did not aspire to a sorry scandal, but in fact to a fight for freedom. The future founder of the Athenian democracy, Kleistenes, at that time in emigration, of course, promoted and supported the version of the fight against tyranny.

Kleistenes decides for military action a year after Hipparch’s death, but his attempted takeover of Hippias’s power has bounced off. Finally, with the help of Sparta Kleisten, she succeeded in gaining power in Athens in 507, and in 506 managed to defeat Sparta. As part of building a new regime, Kleistenes needed myths and heroes. That’s why he left it in the middle of Agora – the place where people met to vote, built a statue of two tyrannics, monks and founders of Athenian freedom: Harmiodosa and Aristogeiton.

In the center of Athens, the statue of two naked heroes with the drawn swords, the first mugs of democracy, stood. History is written by the winners and the citizens voting in the election like great stories. Kleistenes Athencan offered such a story to them and engaged them.

After all, is the current time very different from Kleisten’s? Do not we see today that more power and appeal of politics decides in politics than facts and logic? As conservatives, I can not postpone the reader’s questioning question: What do we actually see progress? Time flows, but human hobbies remain the same. Nothing new under the sun. Let’s look for at least the Kleistens who can use human passions for the benefit of something good.
