Airport news: How to get all your luggage at the same time on the baggage carousel

Airports can be an arduous part of any holiday, with long waiting times and busy terminals.

One thing that often gets on a passenger’s nerves is having to wait for ages at a baggage carousel for a suitcase.

They can sometimes take over an hour for the plane to release them, and if travelling with others, waiting for them to get their suitcase too can take a long time.

There is an easier way to make sure all suitcases leave the plane at the same time.

Buying the same suitcases as a partner or friends can often mean they are loaded onto the plane together due to them being a similar size and easier to stack.

This is then translated back down and means they will both come off the plane at the same time as well.

Anyone waiting at the baggage carousel will then hopefully get their suitcase at the same time as their friend.

This can save time when waiting for a number of pieces of luggage.

The common theory that boarding last means getting a suitcase back first has recently been debunked.

Peter Bruce, an airline captain of 30 years explained on Quora: “There will be multiple baggage containers on every flight and there is no way of determining which one goes in which hold, let alone first or last.”

Also, as the airlines “distribute the weight of luggage and cargo”, the order it is added to the baggage containers doesn’t matter.

Adding a sticker on the front of a suitcase could help bags be looked after better.

A ‘fragile’ sticker could mean that baggage holders look after it as well as get it to come out first on the baggage carousel.

According to Quora user Raqhav Kabra: “While checking in your luggage, ask the person on the counter to put a fragile tag on your luggage.”

“You just have to ask the the person to put a fragile tag, even if you don’t have anything fragile in your bag.

“No extra money, and your luggage comes first,”
