Oldest flight attendant in the world reveals THIS secret about flying

Bette Nash, 82, is the most experienced flight attendant in the world, having flown for 60 years since starting at the age of 22.

Her career first started at Eastern Airlines, which is now called American Airlines.

She still flies from DC to Boston several times a week as part of her job, after passing her FAA exams every year.

The experienced flier has revealed some of the best-kept secrets of the job over the past six decades.

Nash reveals that passengers often bought life insurance from a vending machine before buying their ticket onboard.

She told WJLA-TV: “When it started I think it was $ 12 (£9) one way.

“They would chalk up all the morning flights with chalk and in the afternoon, they’d erase it and chalk it up again.”

Being a flight attendant wasn’t easy, as restrictions regarding weight and height were much stricter back in the day.

The flight attendant revealed:  “You put on a few pounds and then you had to keep weighing yourself.

“And then if you stayed that way, they would take you off the payroll.”

According to the experienced flier, one well-known man also saved her job after Eastern Airlines struggled and almost ended her career.

President Donald Trump created the Trump Shuttle in 1989, which used some of Eastern Airlines flights.

She stated: “I wouldn’t be here today if Donald Trump hadn’t bought the shuttle.

“He gave us everything he promised us.”

Other flight attendants have revealed some of the other secrets that can make air travel much better.

Getting a row of empty seats is easier than passengers may realise.

Gilbert Ott, the creator of site God Save The Points, explained how app ExpertFlyer can achieve this.

He stated: ”Once everyone else has settled their fate, you can often stand in the boarding line with your app open seeing if final seating assignments have created any opportunities – like an entire row to yourself. It really does happen.”
