Bandai Namco is taking Tekken into the fight on iOS and Android

Bandai Namco is bringing its hit fighting game franchise Tekken to iOS and Android. The mobile version of Tekken soft launches in Canada today, although the publisher plans for a global launch at an unspecified date.

Tekken on mobile will feature a single-player story mode and online versus matches. Players can collect over 100 characters, and they can also customize characters with different moves and upgrades. The Tekken series is one of the biggest fighting game franchises. The latest entry for consoles, Tekken 7, was the No. 1 selling game in the U.S. for June.

Fighting games have found success on mobile, notably Warner Bros.’ Injustice 2 Kabam’s Marvel: Contest of Champions. Kabam also released Transformers: Forged to Fight for mobile earlier this year. But this is the first time Tekken has tackled iOS and Android. If it’s successful, it could introduce the series to a group of mobile gamers that Bandai Namco can’t reach on consoles.
