Video has captured the moment the tourist was scolded for throwing her glove at the soldier at the Tower of London.
The footage showed the aftermath of the glove toss, with the accessory seen lying on the ground at the guard’s feet.
Although the video doesn’t show the glove being thrown, witnesses claim the tourist threw it to see if she could get the guard to move.
But she drew no such reaction, as the Queen’s Guard stood stock-still and staring straight ahead throughout the video.
The man filming could be heard saying: “There’s a standoff. Who’s going to get the glove first?”
A Beefeater guard approached the woman and the man she was standing with to see what was going on.
After asking whether the pair did throw the glove at the soldier, the Beefeater gave them a stern dressing down.
He said: “Why would you do that? The army is here to protect the crown jewels, they’re not here for the public to make fun of.
“He is a soldier, he serves his country and he deserves to be treated with a little bit of respect. Throwing your gloves at him isn’t going to work, is it really?”
The Beefeater then climbed over the low-set rail and picked up the glove to return it to the woman.
If the scolding wasn’t enough to deter them, the reaction of online viewers has added fuel to the fire.
Uploaded to YouTube, the video has been viewed over 255,000 times and received hundreds of comments.
Many of the viewers agreed with the clip’s caption: “Don’t mess with the Queen’s Guards”.
One user wrote: “Ignorance is a very sad and embarrassing thing.”
Others urged tourists to “show some respect”.
Last month one of the Queen’s Guard yelled at a tourist for coming too close for a picture at Windsor Castle.
Video captured the moment the guardsman shouted “stay away!” when the visitor went to pose with the man in full uniform.
