A TikTok influencer and former Miss Canada semi-finalist died after accidentally deploying her parachute too late during her first solo skydive.
Tanya Pardazi's TikTok account mostly focused on giving her nearly 100,000 fans views on philosophy, science, and her daily life.
The 21-year-old was taking a skydiving course at Skydive Toronto in Ontario when she failed to open her parachute early enough during her first solo jump in late August, according to a statement from the company.
"The skydiver released a quickly rotating main parachute at a low altitude without the time / altitude required for the reserve parachute to inflate," the statement read.
"The jumper was a welcomed recent addition to the skydiving community and will be missed among the student's new friends and fellow jumpers of Skydive Toronto Inc."
Followers have flooded Pardazi's TikTok comments with condolences following her death.
"I literally cannot believe she's gone. I've never met her, but she's been a huge inspiration for me. Rest in peace," one commenter wrote on Pardazi's last TikTok post.
She was a philosophy student at the University of Toronto and competed in the Miss Canada beauty pageant in 2017.
Skydive Toronto said it is cooperating with local police, and that the company "has been profoundly affected by this accident as they have refined their student training program for over 50 years," according to the report from Yahoo News.
