Richard Barley, director of horticulture at Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, said: “It’s been amazing watching this project unfold, the building emerge gloriously and some of the world’s rarest plants safely reach their home.
“The Temperate House is a glistening cathedral where the new glass allows the sun to stream in and the ironwork has been restored to its glossy best.”
The famous establishment welcomes over 1.35 million people a year, covering 300 acres of plant-life.
With over 36 Grade II listed structures, it was also established as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003.
It one of London’s top attractions, and was voted the best in London in 2016, according to AttractionTix.co.uk. It beat London Eye, the Shard and even Big Ben to the top spot.
