The second smaller wave of the “Beast from the East” swept across the UK over the weekend causing further travel chaos.
Snow and ice spread across the country causing widespread disruption for roads, railways and airlines, British Airways, Ryanair, easyJet and Virgin Atlantic.
Heathrow airport cancelled approximately 100 flights as a result of the bad weather with further delays expected for passengers.
Gatwick airport has also warned passengers to expect delays. A statement released by the airport this morning on Twitter read: “We apologise to all passengers who have been delayed or had flights cancelled tonight, this is due to the prolonged cold snap and the essential de-icing requirements which have mounted during the afternoon and evening”.
