UK weather: Are flights running on schedule at Stansted Airport?

Treacherous icy conditions forced Stansted Airport to issue a warning to passengers yesterday to confirm if their flights were running before travelling to the airport.

EasyJet tweeted at 7.11am this morning that some of its flights will continue to be delayed or cancelled today due to the “continued poor weather conditions”.

Ryanair has been responding to users messages saying its flights are running on schedule.

The airport is insisting all its flights are back on schedule after the overnight travel chaos caused by the and wintry weather conditions.

Stansted tweeted at 6.15am this morning:  “We would like to inform that all flights are anticipated to operate as scheduled today, however passengers are still reminded to check the latest status of their flight with the airline before travelling to the Airport.

“We continue advising passengers to keep up to date with the latest traffic and transport updates, allow extra time for their travel and plan their journey to and form the Airport accordingly. Thank you.”

Some passengers are reporting long queues outside the airport’s entrance this morning and delays caused by ice on the roads.

@howiejk tweeted: “Total chaos getting into @STN_Airport this morning. Last mile took forever and millions of people queuing for security. Not certain to make my flight.”

The airport has been responding to disgruntled passengers on Twitter after flights were cancelled or delayed overnight.

Responding to a user called @Sadia__Riaz on whether flight times were running on schedule today, the airport said: “Hi Sadia. All flights are operating as normal. (Minor delays are likely due to the icy weather and de-icing procedure.) Thank you.”

A yellow warning for ice is in place from the Met Office until 11am.
