5.9 magnitude quake strikes off Philippines

An earthquake of preliminary magnitude 5.9 has struck some 128 kilometers off the city of Davao on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, according to the US Geological Survey. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake that registered at a depth of 61 kilometers.
