Reviving a storied nameplate is a bold move, one that the Lincoln Motor Company is betting on big league—it has even contracted the star of The Lincoln Lawyer himself, Matthew McConaughey, to serve as spokesman. The Continental is the struggling brand’s all-new, luxuriously appointed, handsomely styled flagship sedan. Three V-6 engines, two of which are twin-turbocharged, provide forward thrust, while the standard adaptive suspension smooths road imperfections. Inside, occupants are treated to one of the roomiest back seats in the segment and a host of standard and available luxury features—including optional front seats that are some of the very best in the business. Where the Continental falls short is in its inconsistent execution. Some aspects of its driving behavior are not refined, and its interior finishes range from palatial to plain.
