Much like speed record attempts, there have been earlier Lego Ideas tryouts for the Bloodhound SSC Land Speed Record Car. And the most recent one is really quite good – good enough to gain backing and boost from the Bloodhound SSC team itself.

The real-life Bloodhound SSC is designed to reach 1000 miles per hour, thanks to its Eurojet EJ200 jet engine, a Nammo rocket cluster, a supercharged Jaguar V8 engine driving its rocket fuel oxidizer pump and a very brave driver behind the wheel. The Lego model, on the other hand, consists of 775 pieces and it’s sturdy enough to play with – like its salt flats counterpart, it’s not meant to just sit around.
Over at ideas.lego.com, the project has gained 372 supporters with just under 400 days left. If this is the sort of model you would like to be putting together, lend it a bit of support.
