Saturday Kitchen viewers slam 'rude' Martine McCutcheon as she awkwardly SNUBS chef's dish

The 40-year-old Love Actually star had her food nightmares come true when she was served up tuna steak with olive and tomato salsa and a rocket salad.

“I’m really really getting worried about this now,” she said, as presenter Donal Skehan plated up the dish.

Robbed of the treat of her food heaven – chocolate and hazelnut semifreddo – she seemed very reluctant to taste the dish, as Donal insisted: “Martine, you have to try this it’s part of the show!”

BBC viewers watched in amusement as Martine dubiously picked at the tuna with her fork, selecting a small chunk with the finest helping of olives she could, before tentatively tasting it.

“She’s not retching,” Donal laughed. “So that’s a good sign!”

Wincing as she washed it down with a generous gulp of wine, she conceded: “That’s the best version of it I had but I won’t be having it again in a hurry.”

A number of viewers then rushed to Twitter to brand Martine “rude” for the snub, with watcher blasting: “Why do people go on your show when they obviously hate food, Martine was so rude refusing to eat the tuna.”

Another said she “behaved like a child” when she was forced to try the tuna.

However, others responded by commenting that they thought she had eaten the food hell “with good grace”.

Some viewers were certainly more sympathetic towards Martine, with one saying: “Poor Martine. That dish was everything she hated. An awful thing to be put through.”

Another added: “Well Martine has eaten it and well done to her.”

One of the Saturday Kitchen producers, however, revealed that she had actually also been given the food heaven after the show.

Posting a snap of Martine and Donal with the huge dessert, crew member Amanda Ross said: “We gave her heaven on #SaturdayKitchen after the show!”

Saturday Kitchen continues next Saturday at 10am on BBC One.
