Zelda Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch and Wii U has proven a popular title, apparently even outselling the new console itself.
Fans continue to explore the new title and have now reached the zenith of game completion, reaching 100%, while performing a speedrun.
It’s a level of dedication that many owners will not have, and it’s also a very time-consuming exercise.
This is due to the sheer vastness of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Nintendo’s first open-world style game for the franchise.
And the world’s first 100 percent speedrun of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild took a total of 49 hours, nine minutes, and 41 seconds.
To put that into perspective, other games have speedruns completed in little under the hour, however, to reach the same completion on Zelda Breath of the Wild is much trickier.
This is partly down to having to collect all 900 Korok seeds, as well as climbing every tower and upgrading all of Link’s gear.
Xalikah told Kotaku, “The hard part is thinking about all the items and stuff you need. Especially when the lack of sleeps kicks in. I had a good start on the first 24 hours.
“When I hit 30 hours, it was hard for me. I felt like the run wasn’t going to end, so I decided to take a nap break.”
The current rules for a 100% run, according to Reddit, are:
- All heart and stamina upgrades (and thus all 120 shrines)
- All Quests (complete counters for main quests [15/15], shrine quests [42/42] and side quests [76/76])
- Complete map percentage counter (all koroks, towers, discovered places etc.)
- All Key Items (all dungeon rewards, Kilton medals, bridles, saddles, Hestu’s Gift, Confidential Envelope, Shiekah Slate+, Paraglider)
- Master Sword (this is the only weapon which can’t be gotten rid of)
- Fully upgraded Champion’s Tunic, Zora Armor Set, Wild Armor Set, Thunder Helm (these are the only clothing items you can’t get rid of. Note full upgrades requires all 4 great fairies)
- All fully upgraded Runes
- Full compendium (this gives you a key item)
NOT included would be:
- Sellable items
- Amiibo clothing/weapons etc
- Having to fill every inventory slot with something (this can be done in max%)
- All shrines chests/markers
It follows news that Zelda: Breath of the Wild has somehow managed to sell more copies than Nintendo Switch consoles.
A month after the Nintendo Switch release date, Nintendo has released official Breath of the Wild sales stats.
Nintendo Switch sold 906,000 units in its first month on sale, while Breath of the Wild racked up 1.3 million sales between Switch and Wii U.
Bizarrely, however, the Nintendo Switch version sold 925,000 units, which is more than the console itself.
This kind of attachment rate is more impressive when you consider that Breath of the Wild wasn’t bundled with the Switch console.
It’s possible that some fans purchased the Collector’s Edition on top of the regular version.
