You won’t believe how many babies are conceived in Ikea beds

We have Ikea to thank for handy flat pack furniture at low prices – but so many of us may have the Swedish bank to thank for our very existence.

It has been said that one in 10 Europeans were conceived in an Ikea bed.

The fact was uncovered by the New York Times when the US paper did an in-depth investigation into the furniture maker.

Ikea has stores in 48 countries, and in 2015 approximately 884 million people visited Ikea – that’s twice the population of the US.

Ikea estimates it has sold 1.2 billion hotdogs to British customers since it opened in Britain in 1987.

While many of use seemingly owe our lives to Ikea, its a concern that we may lose our fingers to the company.

Ikea has issued a global warning for deckchairs sold in the UK after customers reported finger injuries from using the product.

The MYSINGSÖ deckchair is being recalled by the Swedish furniture giant.

Ikea has urged its customers who have purchased the particular model to return it for a full refund.

Apparently Ikea can also tell you whether your relationship will work – or not.

The Liatorp storage unit puts relationships under such intense strain that they could cause a break up, said Ramani Durvasula, a professor of psychology at California State University in Los Angeles.

She said that the unit’s 32-page instruction manual and 169 screws required to assemble it often lead to arguments and frustration.

Professor Durvasula said that the Liatorp was the “ultimate relationship test” – and that if you passed you would be together for years.

The store recalled its Malm chests of drawers after three children were crushed by them.

Ikea had warned customers to use wall mounts with the drawers after identifying them as a topple risk following a third death in February, but has not decided to recall the furniture instead.

The units being withdrawn are children’s chests of drawers higher than 23.5 inches (60 cm) and adult chests of drawers and dressers above 29.5 inches.
