xXx star Deepika Padukone reveals she was trained by the MILITARY for movie role

The Bollywood megastar – who has been at Cannes Film Festival this year – crossed over to Hollywood for the new film, which was a hit in cinemas this year and will next make its way to DVD and Blu-ray later this month.

Asked if she had weapons training, the star explained: “Oh yes.  And I think that’s the most amazing part of being an actor, that you get to learn so many different things, which are specific to characters that you play.

“But eventually it’s something that you’ve learned for life.

“And, to be trained by the actual military, different kinds of guns – not just one gun but different kinds of guns… understand how it’s used, understand its function, understand how to reload it…”

She added: “It’s so fascinating.  And it’s something that, you know, I learned for this movie but it’s something I’ve learned for life.”

Padukone’s character Serena is a key player in the film, which also stars Vin Diesel and Ruby Rose.

She recently said of her on-screen alias: “I think what draws Xander to Serena is the fact that he sees a lot of him in her!

“They realise how similar they are to each-other, and then you see how they work together as a team.”

On Serena’s nature, she revealed: “When you first meet Serena, you don’t know whose side she’s on.

“I think she’s a representation of women in today’s world: she’s independent, she’s intelligent, she can stand up for herself.

“She’s always observing, and she’s always learning.”

xXx: Return of Xander Cage is out on DVD and Blu-ray on May 29.
