Xbox One X news: Witcher 3 FINALLY gets its 4K update, as AMAZING new patch hits console

The Witcher 3 is the latest game to join the Xbox One X Enhanced list.

The Witcher 3’s big 4K update is going live, complete with 4K visuals, HDR support and a performance boost.

This includes an option to flick between two different graphical modes based on your desire for increased performance or improved visuals.

One mode lets you play at 60 frames-per-second and at a minimum of 1080p. However, as CD Projekt points out, dynamic scaling often delivers a 4K experience.

The other mode offers 4K gameplay, enhanced shadows, ambient occlusion and texture filtering, as well as higher resolution textures.

That’s on top of HDR support for a wider range of crisper, cleaner colours.

CD Projekt RED’s Jakub Kutrzuba recently told Xbox Wire: “Beautiful visuals are one of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s standout features, breathing life into the game’s open-world full of places to see, secrets to uncover, and adventures to embark on.

“When enhancing the game for Xbox One X, we wanted to use the additional power of the console to deliver an even more visually stunning experience.

“When playing the game on Xbox One X, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s visuals are sharper and the overall presentation more vivid than ever before on Xbox.”

Fable Fortune, Elex, Forza Horizon 3 and Resident Evil 7 are among the other Xbox One X games that will be Enhanced soon.

The news comes as Xbox Games with Gold releases are updated on Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Xbox One owners can download Back to the Future: The Game – 30th Anniversary Edition, while Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death is available on Xbox 360.

Xbox Backwards Compatibility means that Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death can also be played on Xbox One.

The next batch of free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games will be released on January 1. It’s possible they’ll be announced later this week.
