Xbox One news: PUBG update, Microsoft games gift, Black Panther Xbox One X sweepstakes

Xbox One games fans have been given another chance to test PUBG’s next major update.

Bluehole Inc. and Microsoft are in the middle of expanding the content currently available in the popular console version.

This includes a new Miramar test session, which is set to end later this week.

Fans have until Monday, May 14 at 7am BST to check out the new content, which is set to go live on official servers later this year.

“The Xbox test server is coming back soon for round three!” reads a Bluehole blog post. “This time we’re leaving it on for about three straight days so you can test on your preferred schedule.

“Servers can go down for maintenance at any time. If that happens, check our help Twitter or this post for info.”

Fans will be able to try out the map in solo, as part of a duo or a squad. It also supports both first and third-person gameplay.

Bluehole has also been busy testing the next Xbox One update for PUBG.

The imminent update looks set to be a big one, adding much-needed graphical improvements, bug fixes and colour blind settings.

According to the patch notes, PUBG update 14 will expand the field of view of scopes, and will add new visual effects. This should make scopes feel more realistic.

Microsoft have also been busy expanding some of the leading features on the Xbox One and Xbox One X.

After introducing a limited version of digital game gifting last year, Microsoft has expanded the service to incorporate all Xbox One games.

Likewise, the new update means that fans can also gift PC games and DLC.

Ideal for last minute gifts – or if you want a friend to join your online clan – Xbox One online gifting is limited to ten discounted games over a two week period.

Customers are also unable to gift virtual currency, pre-orders and Backwards Compatible games.

“We are hard at work on improving digital gifting, adding new capabilities as well as support for new content types,” Microsoft explains.

“We look forward to bringing you updates on the gifting of paid PC and Xbox apps soon.”

Black Panther Xbox Sweepstakes are live for movie and gaming fans hoping to bag an amazing new console.

And fans can get their hands on the ultra exclusive Black Panther Xbox One X simply by entering their email address.

“To celebrate the digital and 4k Ultra HD disc release of ‘Black Panther,’ Marvel Studios and Xbox are excited to announce the Xbox One X Black Panther Custom Console Sweepstakes,” reads a Microsoft blog post.

“After the death of his father, the king of Wakanda, young T’Challa returns home to the isolated high-tech African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king.

“But when a powerful enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he’s drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk.

“Faced with treachery and danger, he must release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.”

Winners will receive console bundles featuring two custom controllers, a Black Panther-themed Xbox One X and a copy of the movie in 4K Ultra HD.

The only downside is that just five consoles are up for grabs, and the competition is only open to US citizens.

The Black Panther Xbox Sweepstake competition page is live until May 29, so you’d better enter soon if you hope to stand a chance of winning.
