Winds of Winter: Is THIS when George RR Martin's Game of Thrones book 6 will be released?

There has been much speculation surrounding the release of A Song of Ice and Fire’s penultimate book.

It’s been six years since its predecessor, A Dance with Dragons, came out and it’s now believed that Winds of Winter isn’t far away.

According to The Sun, it’s been theorised that Winds of Winter will be released when the eighth and final series of Game of Thrones is expected to arrive in mid-2018.

Fans will know the TV series has now gone beyond the narrative of the novels, with Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring still to go.

Nevertheless this theory is certainly feasible. What better way for Game of Thrones fans to deal with the end of their beloved TV show than with more Game of Thrones.

Another hint comes from Martin’s latest update on his writing progress from back in July.

He said: “I am still working on it, I am still months away… I still have good days and bad days, and that’s all I care to say.

“Whether Winds (of Winter) or the first volume of Fire and Blood will be the first to hit the bookstores is hard to say at this juncture, but I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018… and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream.”
